Since obtaining the PEFC chain of custody certificate in February 2010, Ekipashop, the business which is part of Grupo IC and specialises in made-to-measure environmentally friendly furniture, hasn’t stopped getting orders for furniture with this certificate from local businesses.
The company, which is based in Seville, has premises of more than 4,000m2 which are dedicated to making tailored furniture for local businesses, hotels, offices and health centres. It has several workshops which are dedicated to working with specific finishes (glass, wood, paint, metal, etc) and a technical area, where software specifically written for the design of individual spaces and personalised furniture projects is used for the benefit of our clients.
Joining the chain of custody for forestry products has brought numerous advantages to Ekipashop, as is reflected in the words of its commercial manager, “We've seen that increasingly our clients, guided by the principles of sustainability, decide to incorporate PEFC products in their buildings and installations to achieve less environmental impact and translate their ideas of corporate social responsibility to points of sale.”
Since obtaining the certificate, the company has carried out projects with PEFC furniture for various clients, among them Massimo Dutti, both nationally and internationally. For example, the Massimo Dutti shop in the Champs-Élysées in Paris was one of Ekipashop's first PEFC projects. For this special project, both the furniture and panelling was made with PEFC-certified wood, which guarantees that the wood comes from sustainable forests. Also the paint and varnish used in the project were environmentally friendly.
Ekipashop intends to keep growing its PEFC-certified furniture business in 2011, expanding its customer portfolio and its wide experience in making and installing made-to-measure furniture.
